Day 01 - 02 : Cochin

Queen of the Arabian Sea Cochin (Kochi) is a commercial town comprising mainland Ernakulam, Willingdon Island, Mattancherry, Fort Cochin, Vypeen and Bolghatty Island. Chinese fishing nets, a Jewish Synagogue, a Dutch Palace, Portuguese architecture and Bolghatty Palace enrich Kerala’s heritage.

Activities Enjoy murals and antiquities at the Dutch Palace & Cemetery; appreciate the stunning views of the harbour at Fort Kochi; explore Matancherry, the Pardesi Synagogue, Jewish town, St. Francis Church with the grave of Vasco da Gama; stroll through the spice and antique markets and see the Chinese fishing nets. Enjoy a sunset cruise; visit the Hill Palace and Tripunithura ; enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performances or even a kaleidoscope of martial arts and traditional dance forms of Kerala.

Day 02 - 03: Drive from Cochin to Alleppey (65 km, 1.5 hrs)

Explore nature at its best with a cruise in Alleppey (Alappuzha), tagged the ‘Venice of the East’ and the hub of Kerala’s backwaters. A visit to Kerala is incomplete without experiencing a traditional Kettuvallam houseboat cruise. Meander emerald waterways in the comfort of Kettuvalloms, an improvization on the once large country boats. Glide through a maze of inland waterways and lagoons, via a watery world of villages, mangrove forests, paddy fields and coconut groves. Measuring up to 120ft in length, these crafts once carrying rice and coconuts, were made by tying huge planks of jack wood together without using a single nail! Recently, they have been replaced as modern accomodations – fully furnished with single/double rooms, sundeck, balcony, kitchen, bathroom and a 3-man crew – a cook, guide and oarsman.

Activities Cruising Kerala’s backwaters in a traditional ‘Kettuvallom’ (boats made by tying together wooden planks with coconut ropes) is a distinctly unique experience! These quaint slow moving exotic barges have all the creature comforts of a hotel – furnished bedrooms, modern toilets, living rooms, kitchen and a balcony for viewing/angling – shaded and with uninterrupted amazing views of an untouched, rather inaccessible rural Kerala. Experience God’s Own Country meandering narrow backwater pathways on the Vembanad Lake via canals, paddy fields, villages, markets, etc on the Alleppey/Kumarakom/Fort Kochi Backwaters. Visit famous temples, churches, ancestral homes; stroll through busy markets, rice fields, meet the locals, etc. Enjoy local cuisine on board, served on traditional banana leaves. Drop anchor overnight…sleep to the sounds of the still of the night with gentle waves swishing.

Day 03 - 10: Drive from Alleppey to Nattika (140 km, 3 hrs)

Nattika is a small village in Kerala located about 25km from Thrissur on the west coast, famous for disarming beaches set amid lush greens by the Arabian Sea in Kerala..namely, Nattika Beach (4.5km long). Enjoy a wide sandy coast quite secluded, away from madding crowds..dotted with swaying palm trees, crashing waves, abundant sunshine and many nearby attractions like backwater cruises, elephant rides, beach volleyball, beach badminton, angling and more. This beach is especially different from other Kerala beaches in that it allows vehicles to drive along the beach and its waters. Swim in cobalt blue waters, ‘ride’ the waves, chase crabs, collect shells or build sand castles..not many beaches offer the double goodness of backwaters and the sea alike.

Hi Krishna, We are so sorry that could not write you earlier. When we reached to NY we had severe jet lag. As we just started to recover we were hit by Sandy Storm and a week later by Snow storm. We were without electricity for 2 weeks, had no phone and we still have no internet. This was the worst storm we were hit with. Thank God we had no damage to house or personnel. I just want to let you know that we had a great trip. This was almost perfect. The Guides and the drivers were excellent. Car was comfortable. The hotels were great. Above all this trip was unique, different than others. We would have never seen these places otherwise. Each place has something different and unique in culture. People were so nice all over.This was a great package. I would recommend it to all ages, young or old. The best part of trip was plan ride to see Himalyas, what an experience.We thankyou so much. I told Mr Batra to promote this Trip. If we can do any thing please let us know. Next year we want to see temples of South. With kind regards.

I am glad you wrote to ask about this! It was wonderful. We really enjoyed all the hotels (especially the Imperial hotel) and the tours given by Enille. He took us to different sites in Delhi including the Ghandi memorial site, and a couple of tombs, as well as the Qatar Mintub, which was reported to be the tallest stone structure. The drive to Agra was interesting to the say the least and certainly put things in perspective when you saw the stark contrast between the poor and everyone else. There was nothing to see in Agra other than the Taj Mahal but the hotel was beautiful so we just enjoyed that when we were not at the taj. The food was spectacular at all the places but it did not prevent us from getting Delhi belly!!! We suffered through no problem though... And the spa was absolutely gorgeous and soooo relaxing. The food was great and the weather could not have been better. I only did one Ayervedic treatment, which was nice but Gustavo just enjoyed the ambiance of the place, as did I. We really liked it and ended up wishing we had stayed there longer, especially with the long drive to/from Mangalore, but it was worth it!! I would recommend this trip to anyone!! We both really enjoyed it but will need to save our $$$ for awhile after that trip!!! Thanks you!!!
